The Income Tax Department has started the system of issuing the required document identification number for issuing online notice to taxpayers. This system has been prepared under the direction of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Often a notice is issued by the Income Tax Department to the taxpayers. Sometimes it is difficult to find out whether the notice is genuine or fake. But now the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has introduced a special facility.
Actually, the document identification number ie DIN number of CBDT has started. After this, the CBDT will now issue notice to the taxpayers along with the DIN. This means that without computer generated DIN, notice, letter, order or summons or any other kind of communication from the Income Tax Department will be considered invalid. At the same time, it will also have no existence legally.
Giving this information, Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey said that except for special circumstances, every kind of communication will be done with the help of DIN. Pandey further said that if there is a need to have any kind of dialogue without it, then permission will have to be obtained in writing from the Chief Commissioner or Director General of Income Tax Department. Without this, any kind of communication will be declared illegal.
Let us know that the DIN system has been prepared under the direction of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. At the same time, this system was launched on October 1 and 17,500 numbers were generated on the first day.
What do taxpayers have to do?
It has been told by CBDT that online communication between taxpayers and department will have to be uploaded on the portal of IT department within 15 days. Both will use the DIN number on communication. At the same time, it will record a record of every communication. Without this, any kind of communication will be considered wrong.
